I used a drip coffeemaker yaers ago but gave up on it in the end as the coffee was always lukewarm. I guess machines have improved since then but cool is no good at all!

I have one, but use it primarily for backup when I run out of K-Cups. I find that the quality isn't as consistent with the My Cup ... I think it depends in how the water hits the grounds. The coffee is SURPRISINGLY good. I have the Breville machine, which I absolutely love. Right now, loving the Wicked Winter Blend from Green Mountain Coffee ... VERY strong, very rich. Love it.

Have you tried the My Cup for the Keurig? Grind your own coffee and enjoy one cup at a time. I've been very surprised with the Keurig and how decent the coffee is. I remember when I first bought a Senseo and it was amazing but then I started making my own pods with my own coffee. It was a mess but ultimately found a way to make my own without the mess. Then shortly after that someone came out with an adapter like the My Cup so you didn't have to make a mess.

Justin, I just love your passion for coffee. It's inspiring!! To me, coffee is no less varied and subtle in its nuances than wine. Many people don't understand that there is far more to it than simply grabbing a can of Maxwell House off the shelf; that the soils in the regions where the beans are grown has as huge an impact on the taste as the method with which they were roasted.

Because of this, I don't want to lose ANY of the subtle flavors, I often brew my coffee in a French Press. When it's speed I need, though, I have a Keurig one-cup brewer (the Breville model) that does SURPRISINGLY well. I've been really happy with it. The cost was a little off-putting initially, but it's been well worth it.

Great article Justin!

It's true, water is absolutely crucial to the process! We will also note (if it isn't obvious) that grinding your beans immediately before brewing them is paramount to great tasting coffee.

Thanks again!
